And, as we do for every end-of-year issue,we’ve also nominated a “Person of the Year.” Two people, actually, two women from Puglia, two rivals on the court and friends in real life—tennis players Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci, stars of the all-Italian US Open women’s final.
  • Before its official start on November 20th with the screening of Partly Cloudy (with Sunny Spells) by Marco Pontecorvo, N.I.C.E.-New Italian Cinema Events was introduced to the public at a press conference held at the Italian Cultural Institute and at a special preview of the film at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò.The organizers, Viviana del Bianco (Director) and Maya Breschi (US Executive Director), and some of the talent, directors Marco Pontecorvo, Matteo Bini and Alessia Scarso took the time to celebrate with the audience the festival's 25th edition.

    Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò opened its new season this September with the original exhibit “The Transformative Power of Art”, by Fabrizio Ruggiero. The artist spoke at La Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo’ last Monday. Together with the director Stefano Albertini and Idanna Pucci, writer, producer and traveler, the artistic themes and culture used by Fabrizio Ruggiero in the production of his portraits on a grand scale, achieved with the painting technique of “fresco”, were analyzed.
  • New York's favorite Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò closed the season of cultural events with a successful round table with the directors and actors of Open Roads: New Italian Cinema at Lincoln center. With the guidance of Stefano Albertini and Antonio Monda, Italian actors and directors discussed their films and what seems to be a great moment for Italian cinema.
  • Curated by Isabella del Frate Rayburn, with the participation of Dr. Martina Caruso, who edited the catalogue of the exhibition and who has a personal connection with the artist, Giulio Turcato, the drawings is a show that has just opened at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimo' and that will be on view until December 12. This is the first exhibition to bring together a wide selection, about 40, of the artist's works on paper to the United States.
